General Requirements for Admission

Requirements for Admission to a Degree Programme (Vollstudium):
General matriculation certificate (qualification for admission to higher education) - equivalent to the German "Abitur".

Requirements for Exchange Programmes and Visiting Students (Teilstudium):
Students have to be enrolled at their home university and should have completed at least one year of studies before coming to Jena.

Language Requirements

Students need to have a sufficient knowledge of German in order to follow the lectures and seminars and to receive credits for their courses. Prior to their enrolment at FSU, applicants for admission to a degree programme are required to pass an examination in German for Foreign Students, for example the DSH (level DSH 2) or TestDaf (level 4 in all four parts of the test).

Students taking part in exchange programmes may be exempt. For those pursuing a doctorate, please consult the respective school (dean's office) to find out whether the DSH is required.
