by train
Coming from the West (e.g. Frankfurt airport) or the East you arrive at the railway station "Jena-West". From the station take the bus line 15 (destination "Rautal") and get off at the bus stop "Schützenhofstraße". Follow the steep small street "An der Eule" down the hill. After 100 m you meet the street "Dornburger Straße". The Institute of Ecology is the large brownish building on the left corner, the main entrance is from the "Dornburger Straße".
Coming from the North (e.g. Berlin airport, Leipzig airport) or the South (e.g. Munich airport or Nürnberg) you arrive at the railway station "Jena-Paradies". From the station take the tram line 1 or 4 (destination "Zwätzen") and get off at the tram stop "An der Eule". Continue in the direction of the tram for 50 m, the Institute of Ecology is the large brownish building on the opposite side of the street.
by car
From the North-South motorway A9 Berlin-Nürnberg, leave at the exit "Eisenberg" and follow the B7 to Jena, or change to the East-West motorway A4, direction "Frankfurt" and "Erfurt", at the "Hermsdorfer Kreuz" junction. From the East-West motorway A4 Frankfurt-Dresden, leave at the exit "Jena- Lobeda" (preferably) or "Jena-Göschwitz", then follow the signs towards the city centre of Jena ("Stadtzentrum").
From the city centre, follow the B88 to the North, direction "Naumburg". The "Dornburger Straße" branches off at the left hand side at a crossroad with traffic lights, dominated by an impressive yellow building with a roof tower and dragon-like decorations from wrought-iron. Here also the tram leaves the B88 to the left. Follow the tram rails, and after about 2 km the Institute of Ecology is on the left hand side, opposite of the tram stop "An der Eule".
by flight
The closest airport is Leipzig. After arriving at Leipzig airport, take the airport shuttle to Leipzig main station and continue by train (about 1 hr).
Most international flights will arrive at Berlin or Frankfurt. From Berlin you will arrive at the station "Jena-Paradies" (direct train connections every 2 hrs, from Frankfurt at the station "Jena-West". Both train connections take about 3 hrs.
From either train station continue by bus or tram as described above.
