Preface
It is one of the declared goals of the Friedrich Schiller University to provide its wide variety of resources effectivly and performance oriented. Thus, not only its own innovative and competitive capacity can be facilitated, but also its potentials as service provider, especially to the state of Thuringia, in divisions of science, research, continued education, business, copyrights and licenses, as well as qualified medical attention.
The currently at the Jena University residing DFG-funded projects, such as 5 collaborative research centers, 4 research groups, 5 postgraduate colleges, as well as about 20 projects on various topics are as much an expression of its achievment potential as its involment in about 70 EU-projects, and its integration in high ranking network projects by the BMBF. Furthermore, the University has numerous interdisciplinary centers, competence centers, as well as excellent equipment with computers and network technology.
This revised 7th edition of the transfer catalog delivers information on current research activities, possible transfer-, and counseling services and it discloses information about technical equipment. On behalf of clarity this catalog does not give detailed account of the universities scientific landscape. It is meant as an orientation guide, and it is suggested that interested parties seek the direct contact with our associates at the Office of research-funding and -transfer.
It is desired that this new edition of the transfer catalog again is read by many attentive readers and encourages interested parties with its numerous service offerings to consider working with our university.
I express my gratitude to all contributors involved in the formulation of the catalog.
