Do you need any help writing a letter of invitation for a visa application? We would be glad to send you a sample which you can adapt for your guest.

• Registering as a visiting scientist or a scholar

Please inform your guest to register in our portal for visiting scientists and scholarsExternal link. It contains information for all specific needs of your guest in order to make the upcoming stay as smooth as possible.

We will be happy to help you if you have any questions regarding visas or other entry requirements.

• Family

Are your visiting scientists or scholars coming with their whole family and need support looking for a suitable childcare (nursery school Kita or school)? The Welcome Point and Family Office 'JUniFamilie de will be happy to help you.

• Support while looking for an accommodation

We will be happy to make reservations for your guest in one of the Universitys guest External linkhouses. Since they are often overbooked, an early reservation is required. Alternatively, we can send you or your guest an up-to-date list of furnished flats and holiday apartments in Jena upon request. Get in touch with us!

• Contract for visiting scientists and scholars

The contract for visiting scientists and scholars forms the basis for the status as a visiting scientist or scholar at our University. Based on the contract, the Welcome Point can apply for a Thoska card and personal log-in credentials for your guests. It also makes many other University resources available to them. In addition, your guests have an accident insurance for their work.

You can download a contract sample in the portal HanFRIED. Alternatively, you can contact us to send it to you by e-mail. Please send us two signed copies of the contract before arrival. We will then register, sign, and return the contract to the host institute.

• Thoska card and URZ login

After your guest has registeredExternal link, we will apply for a Thoska card for Universitys members and a personal log-in for your guest.

• Tutor service

Do your guests need help upon their arrival in Jena? Our tutors will help them through the first steps at the University and in non-academic matters (e.g. registering at the residents' registration office, opening a bank account). Get in touch with us at .

Our Dual Career Service helps spouses accompanying your guest with applications and CVs, and provides advice on job opportunities in Jena and the surrounding area.

Is your visiting research interested in further qualification at the University of Jena (doctorate, postdoctoral qualifications)? Our Graduate Academy will be happy to help her/him and offers a wide ranging qualification programme.
