In its mission statement, the University of Jena opposes racism and all forms of discrimination. The University has also set itself the task of preventing or eliminating all forms of discrimination through its anti-discrimination policy.

The promotion of equal cooperation between all members and affiliates is a central claim of the University. At the same time, this claim is repeatedly put to the test by social phenomena such as racism, antisemitism and discrimination.

The University's Antisemitism Officer supports those affected by antisemitism. The aim is to make the University a safe place for Jews and to strengthen the perspectives of those affected.

The Department of Research and Information on Antisemitism Thuringia (RIAS Thüringen) documents antisemitic incidents in Thuringia and supports those affected by antisemitism. RIAS Thuringia is part of the federal working group of the federal association RIAS e. V., which aims to establish a uniform nationwide civil society system for recording and documentating antisemitic incidents. It works according to the criteria of the quality standards developed by the federal association and is guided by the working definition of antisemitism of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
