A crowd of more than 70 people came to the Rosensäle for the first live finale of the "Three Minute Thesis" competition after the Corona pandemic. In this competition, doctoral candidates present their thesis in just three minutes on a single slide.
In the end, doctoral researcher Priya Reddy from the Matthias Schleiden Institute of Genetics, Bioinformatics and Molecular Botany won the jury prize with her presentation " Azelaic acid: A distress signal molecule". The jury prize is endowed with 100 euros. Jisna Jose of the Institute of Microbiology won this year's audience award with her presentation "Guardians of the Super Mutant".
3MT® is an internationally renowned competition that is conducted at numerous universities throughout the world. It was invented in 2008 by the University of Queensland, Australia, and the Coimbra Group has established this competition in Europe. As a member of this renowned university network, the University of Jena takes part in this competition. The winner from Jena will take part in the Europe-wide preliminary competition with her presentation. The three best participants can present their paper at this year's Three-Minute-Thesis Final in Turku and win up to 3000 euros.
