Science Mediation in Health and Welfare: Cross-disciplinary communication for doctoral researchers

An intensive workshop for doctoral researchers across all nine EC2U universities — building the skills to communicate research compellingly to peers, policymakers, and the public, while forging cross-disciplinary connections.

By the end of Day 3 each of the groups will have:

• produced one collective science mediation piece (blog post, short video, social media thread, scientific poster, or public talk concept) opening their anchor research to cross-disciplinary publics — and will have committed to concrete diffusion channels post-workshop
• participated in courses from Professors from the Alliance and beneficiate mentorship during their activities
• networked with other PhD students across the Alliance
• produced a final poster per group, based on their interactions and feedback from parallel sessions and community contributions.

What Participants can Gain

● A new lens on their own research: Exposure to methods and questions from unfamiliar fields consistently unlocks new perspectives on one's own project — one of the most reported outcomes of cross-disciplinary formats.

● Transferable skills with a concrete output: Participants leave with a communications piece suitable for their doctoral portfolio — and competencies increasingly valued in both academic and non-academic careers.

● A genuine European network: Three days working closely with peers from eight other universities — across disciplines and cultures — builds connections that outlast the workshop.

Funding

Selected participants will receive a 1265 € EC2U Grant, but might have to pay the costs for travel and stay themselves in advance.
