Prof. Dr. Birgitta König-Ries

holds the Heinz-Nixdorf endowed chair for Distributed Information Systems at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena. She and her team are responsible for the research data management of several major projects, for example that of the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv, DFG),  CRC AquaDiva (DFG) and the Priority Program Biodiversity-Exploratories (DFG). Additionally, her team is building the data management platform  BExIS 2 (DFG) and is actively involved in the development of the German Federation for Biological Data (gfbio, DFG).

Together with Roman Gerlach, Birgitta König-Ries offers regular training events on data management topics , such as the course "Research Data Management- Make your data count!" at the Jena Graduate Academy.

Dipl. Geogr. Roman Gerlach

is a research associate of the Remote Sensing Chair (Institute of Geography). As a coordinator of the project  BExIS++ (DFG), he is responsible for the development of the data retention platform BExIS 2. He has many years of experience in the building of data infrastructures  (e.g., SIB-ESS-C)  and in the handling of large amounts of data, both in an academic and a commercial setting.

M.A. Christoph Rzymski

works as a PhD student and researcher at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. His work at the chair for language and communication with the department of English and American studies is concerned with the deep processing of natural language.

Dipl. Math. Markus Baaske

joined the group of research data management within the BMBF-funded project 'eeFDM'. As a scientific employee at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg he primarily focused on stochastic modelling of composite materials in several externally funded co-operation projects (industry and research institutes). He has a deep experience in statistical analysis of large amounts of scientific data and actively maintains open-source software developments with `R`.

Dr. Franka Baaske

conducts research in the field of partial differential equations with applications in physics and biology. Since 1 April 2017 she is a research associate in the BMBF-funded project 'eeFDM' focussing on the development and evaluation of teaching material. Besides, she gives lectures at the EAH Jena.

Dr. Bettina Hesse

is a biologist. She was jointly responsible for the development of a platform for archiving and publication of the Jena Collection of X-Ray Movies. Since April 1st, she is a research associate at the research data management helpdesk of Prof. König-Ries. Here, she works in the BMBF-funded project for the development of an effective and efficient research data management at the FSU (eeFDM).

The contact point for research data management is still in development and can currently provide only limited services. In addition to providing the consultation itself, we would like to determine the need for this kind of service. Please reach out with any concerns or suggestions you may have relating to the topic of research data, regardless of which of the university's departments you belong to, or at which point in your academic career you are. We work together closely with the university's computer center and Thuringia's state library, as well as various other divisions of the university and strive to bring together the right partners.
