Educational operations of the winter semester 2020/21 at the Friedrich Schiller University will start on 2 November 2020 and will be conducted—at least partially—on site. The semester will have as many face-to-face components as possible and will be delivered as digitally as necessary. The University wants to facilitate on-site courses for first semester students in particular; students in higher semesters can expect certain courses such as practical laboratory courses and the supervision of degree theses to take place on site. Online teaching will continue and supplement face-to-face teaching wherever necessary. If need be, individual solutions will be found for students who are at increased risk from corona. The University asks you to understand that further details will be published at a later time as ensuring compliance with distance rules and the hygiene concept requires a high planning effort.

In any case, it is important that all students enrol or re-register as soon as possible in order not to miss any deadlines. Students can find information on re-registration here. Prospective students from Germany can enrol/register until 30 September 2020 in non-admissioned undergraduate study programmes. For further details and points of contact please see: https://www.uni-jena.de/en/application_enrolment.

International students can find deadlines for application and enrolment at https://www.uni-jena.de/en/studies+international and further information here. If you encounter any difficulties regarding visa or travel restrictions, or if you are unable to arrive in time due to other reasons, please inform the International Office (incoming@uni-jena.de) where you will receive advice on further steps.

You can find here tips for flat-hunting and other useful information - or here, but only in german.

The University is looking forward to seeing and welcoming you back in Jena—both online and in the seminar room.
