The International Office offers students many opportunities to get to know each other better and to network. It also offers workshops where international students can obtain information on various aspects of life in Jena and Germany.

The Studierendenwerk Thüringen also offers many intercultural events. So join us!

The Intercultural Café takes place once every month during the lecture period - everyone is welcome!

Due to the pandemic, the next Cafés are not scheduled yet. We will publish the dates here soon.

Another Café? Yes – this one is located in Jena, Weimar and Erfurt, at each university.

The Studierendenwerk Thüringen and students organize intercultural events in Jena, Erfurt and Weimar. Famous are the Meet my country nights when students present their home countries/cultures.

Due to the pandemic, most events are offered online.

Meeting new friends

The Fachschaftsrat (FSR), the student representative body in each institute or faculty organizes meet & greet events for new students, semester parties, regulars' tables and much more. You may find their contact information on the institute or faculty website.

There is a variety of intercultural groups at the University and in Jena, such as the International Room and Erasmus Student Network in the International Centre. They organize parties, excursions and trips, visits to the theatre and to museums, international nights, the international concert, as well as language courses and regular get-togethers. Exploring the region

It is worth exploring the Jena region and Thuringia. Many places are accesible with your thoska (or by bike). Here are our favourites:

  • Erfurt (medieavel centre, cathedral, Old Synagoge, Krämerbrücke, museums, shops)

  • Dornburg Castles (great view over the Saale valley)
