  • Lecture: "Bullying, masking and autistic burnout"

    Tuesday, 23. May 2023; 18:00 - 20:00

Lecture (Hybrid format): "Mobbing, Masking and Autistic Burnout." (in german language)

Speaker: Dr. Klaus Renziehausen (University of Jena)

    content:

Autistic people often do not have it easy in society. They often experience bullying, try to hide their autism in society ("masking") - and are often affected by a special form of burnout, the autistic burnout, because of the particularly stressful everyday life for them.

The aim of this lecture is to show ways how autistic people can deal well with these situations - or even better, how to avoid them in the first place! Central is the learning of a sovereign, self-confident handling of one's own autism.

Also relatives, friends and carers of autistic people will find helpful content in this lecture to support autistic people effectively.

    Wednesday, 24. May 2023; 12:00 - 16:00

Workshop: Discrimination (also) a problem at the university - Concepts, causes and possibilities for action (in german language, english translation on demand)

Speaker: Steffen Beigang (Institut für Demokratie und Zivilgesellschaft (IDZ), Jena)

    Content:

Racism, sexism, rejectionism, heteronormativity and other structural principles of societies also have an impact on universities. They effect that marginalization, exclusion, barriers and discrimination occur here as well. All members of the university should be be attentive to this, to question their own privileges and to contribute to a fair and just environment. During the workshop, participants will discuss what discrimination is and how it shows up in the university context. Various scientific studies will be used to learn how often discrimination occurs at universities and what are the causes. Finally, the participants will work out which individual and collective options for action against discrimination exist and and for what reasons people do not defend themselves against discrimination.

    Venue: Room 385, Campus Carl-Zeiß-Str. 3

    Registration:

The workshop is designed for members of the University Jena and limited to 25 participants. Free places are open to members of all Thuringian universities. Please register for the workshop by sending an e-mail to the office to vpgleichstellung@uni-jena.de

  • Authors Reading "Als man mir den Stecker zog"

    Wednesday, 24. May 2023; 17:00 - 19:00

Authors Reading: "Als man mir den Stecker zog" - Dealing with depression (in german language)

    Content:

     "You are not your depression!"
Those who constantly exert themselves to achieve something unattainable will eventually become ill.

    • What kind of "civilization" is this if it makes us sick?
    • Why do we treat ourselves and others so unkindly?

Obviously, it is only in the face of our mental abysses that we understand that it is time to rethink as a society. No more pressure and coercion, but rather the development of potential, where one is allowed to go through valleys. (Source: https://www.lucabischoni.de/External linkExternal linkExternal link )

A registration is desired as organizational reasons, but is not necessary.

  • Film screening "Unter Männern - Schwul in der DDR"

    Thursday, 25. May 2023, 6:00 pm

Film screening: „Unter Männern - Schwul in der DDR“ with the Directors Ringo Rösener and Markus Stein (in german language)

    Speaker: Dr. Ringo Rösener (Director)

    Content:

Being gay was not an issue under socialism. It was a "remnant of decadent bourgeois morality" and would take care of itself, they thought. Since, unlike in the FRG, the tightening of § 175 was revoked in the East after the Second World War, people were initially able to live more freely there - they just didn't talk about it. In this film, six men talk about how they lived and loved as gays in the GDR - and they are by no means always in agreement. "Unter Männern" tells of individuality in a uniform system. (translated from the source: https://salzgeber.de/)External link

The film is followed by a discussion (in German) with the director Ringo Rösener.

Venue: Kino im Schillerhof, Helmboldstraße 1, Jena
