European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) and Virtual Institute for Quality Education(VIQE)

The European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) is a multicultural and multilingual alliance consisting of seven long-established, education- and research-oriented, locally and globally engaged EU universities: the universities in Coimbra (Portugal), Iaşi (Romania), Jena (Germany), Pavia (Italy), Poitiers (France), Salamanca (Spain) and Turku (Finland).

The Virtual Institute for Quality Education (VIQE) is a virtual institute within the Alliance and is dedicated to connecting education, research and innovation. During the three years of the project, a pilot project profile for VIQE will first be developed and fully implemented, focusing mainly on language as well as cultural and societal diversity in Europe.

Aim of the Research Seed mobility programme

One key objective of the Research Seed Mobility Programme is to actively promote stronger scientific cooperation between researchers and research groups at all seven EC2U universities.

Existing local research groups working on languages, cultures and societies in contact and on education as a means of promoting linguistic and cultural diversity are invited to collaborate. They are expected to form EC2U research clusters, develop research seed projects and subsequently apply for additional national and EU funding.

Researchers working on the following topics are eligible to apply for Research Seed Mobilities:

  • Languages
  • Literature
  • Cultures
