The Center for Molecular Biomedicine (CMB) is a cross-faculty association of institutes of the Faculty of Biology and Pharmacy and the Faculty of Medicine and has been established by the FSU Jena in 2002. Located on the Beutenberg Campus, the CMB serves as a link between the life-science faculties of the FSU and the surrounding Leibniz Institutes (FLI, HKI, and IPHT).

Physiological and pathophysiological functional patterns of select signaling proteins are in the focus of the CMB’s cooperative research activities. Our research will contribute to increase the understanding of the molecular processes in cells, organs and organisms, and to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for human diseases. Furthermore, members of the CMB organize and teach in life science study programs.

The CMB comprises the Institute for Biochemistry and Biophysics with the departments of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and the Laboratory of Cell Biology, of the Faculty of Biology and Pharmacy as well as the Institute for Molecular Cell Biology and the Laboratory of Sepsis Research of the Faculty of Medicine.
