In General

The amount stated refers to a single course and a single semester

This information about course fee does not apply to
* courses of the Department German as a Foreign Language (DaF)
* further education courses offered by Division 5 – Human Resources which are carried out by the Language Centre.

Language Courses during the Semester (except DaF)

  • Students of the FSU and other German institutes of higher education

    If you are studying at another German university, you must first apply for Zweithörerschaftpdf, 317 kb · de.

    • 2 units/week = € 20 for the semester
    • 4 units/week = € 40 for the semester
  • Doctoral students of the FSU (with student status)

    If you are doing your doctorate and have a valid THOSKA with a matriculation number from the University of Jena the fees are

    • 2 units/week = € 20 for the semester
    • 4 units/week = € 40 for the semester

    Please note:

    You get your doctorate and possess a valid THOSKA but without a registration number for the University Jena? You count as an employee of the FSU Jena and pay the guest course fee.

    You get your doctorate and do not have a valid THOSKA? Then you count as guest.

  • Doctoral students visiting the FSU (without student status)

    You will find information about enrolment as a doctoral student here!

    • 2 units/week = € 100 for the semester
    • 4 units/week = € 200 for the semester
  • Guests

    • 2 units/week = € 100 for the semester
    • 4 units/week = € 200 for the semester
  • Exemption from payment of course fees

    Further education for employees of the FSU

    Some FSU employees may be required to participate in language courses. In such cases, the course fees may be covered - partly or completely – by your Department or Institute. Please contact your line manager.

    Compulsory elective courses/ ASQ-modules

    For compulsory elective courses, i.e. courses that can be recognized as ASQ-modules (Allgemeine Schlüsselqualifikationen), there is no exemption from paying the course fees.
