In order to concretize the goals of the Declaration of Principles on Sustainability  of the University of Jena, a sustainability strategy has been developed in a participatory manner since the summer semester of 2022.

As one of the largest educational institutions and innovation spaces in Thuringia, the University of Jena has a responsibility to commit to sustainable development in light of the urgency of societal transformation processes. In all university areas, goals and measures are required that reduce the university's consumption of resources and anchor sustainability in the university's everyday culture.

With the commitment of more than 130 members of the Friedrich Schiller University, a draft of the sustainability strategy was developed in the work groups Research, Teaching, Operations and Transfer by February 2023. Through the broad participation of students and operational as well as academic staff, expertise and new impulses for change could be combined. The process is coordinated by the Green Office.

The strategy was adopted in December 2023. You can find it here de (German only, an English version will be published at the beginning of 2024.).
