Groups of (future) graduates from German foreign schools or language schools can learn more about the University and the town of Jena by attending Discovery Studies held over several days. In addition to attending lectures and being guided around the facilities at the University, prospective students can also look forward to a German language course, Study Programme Speed Dating, individual course advice or a tour of the small city together with current students. You can also enjoy a typical meal at the Mensa and take a look inside a dormitory operated by the student services organization. Together with course advisors, international students embarking on higher subject-specific semesters also offer a vivid impression of their student life and are on hand to answer any questions in their mother tongue.

On 14 November 2020, our first purely virtual Discovery Studies started with 17 students from Latin America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Venezuela). The participants will attend lectures, information events, regular German classes as well as Spanish and Portuguese classes. In addition, they will have meetings with Jena students and participate in cultural activities, such as a small concert or a visit to the theatre. On Sunday, 22 November 2020, the participants will bake biscuits together to conclude the programme.

If you would like to get to know the participants better, you should visit the Facebook page of the Café International on Wednesday, 18 November at 20:00—you will then be able to see a compilation of short videos of almost all participants: https://de-de.facebook.com/cijena/External link
