Team development

Your team development processes can be supported by Staff Development through team workshops and other accompanying measures with internal or external moderators. The aim of all measures is to ensure performance by improving teamwork. The development of a team is not a one-time activity, but a whole process. The focus is on the starting situation of a team and the targets of the team development process. All team development measures are aligned with these targets and tailored specifically to the team.

It is often useful to have the development of your team supervised by a moderator in the following situations:

  • When a team welcomes a new manager
  • When a new team is formed
  • When new members are added to a team
  • When the objectives, tasks and/or environment of a team change
  • When there are specific challenges within a team, e.g. communication issues, conflicts or unclear work processes

Our team development measures may deal with the following content/topics:

  • Achieving goals
  • Clarifying tasks, roles, responsibilities and decision-making processes
  • Developing teamwork and/or communication rules
  • Identifying and overcoming problems on a professional and interpersonal level

This usually leads to:

  • The improvement of information and communication flows
  • The strengthening of team spirit and togetherness
  • The optimization of team processes
  • Experiential team training at the University Sports Centre

    TEAMtraining

The University Sports Centre at Friedrich Schiller University Jena offers experiential training outdoors and in teams. The training is centred around outdoor sports, as nature offers ideal opportunities to tackle and complete tasks together. In contrast to learning situations with a focus on theoretical aspects, the team training at the University Sports Centre stimulates all the senses. The training focuses on the cognitive, sensorimotor and affective levels with a rich variety of experiences on land, on the water and in the air. The training consists of three main factors: experience, community and nature. The sessions have been designed by the University Sports Centre for groups looking for shared experiences, such as faculties, departments, institutes and seminar groups. The University Sports Centre will also be happy to respond to personal requests and put together a special programme – after all, every person and group is unique! Groups can work together to resolve any issues they might have.
