The University of Jena actively communicates with all university members and the general public via Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok. Our posts are intended to be informative and entertaining and to create an exchange on various topics from science, studies, teaching and research. In doing so, the opinions, comments and questions of students, researchers, lecturers and everyone else are very important to us. However, we think that comments, for example, should be formulated respectfully so that discussions and conversations are constructive.

For this reason, we have formulated the following communication rules and discussion recommendations for our social media channels.

Respectful interaction

Remain friendly and tolerant. Even if you feel attacked or offended by a post/comment. Please discuss the issue in a factual and fair manner. We do not tolerate offensive or illegal posts on our social media accounts. We will hide the following posts:

1. Threats, bullying, harassment, insults, degradation, vilifications, insinuations, slander, defamation and hate speech.

2. Posts with attitudes/views that are racist, sexist or discriminatory towards minorities, communities or individuals.

3. Posts that explicitly represent party-political, religious and/or ideological content and goals.

4. Approval, triggering or glorification of: Violence, war, discrimination, unconstitutional or anti-democratic acts are hidden, as are pornographic or sadistic depictions.

Thematic relevance

We publish articles on academic topics, inform about university policy decisions and would like to point out special services offered by the Universityof Jena. If you do not wish to comment on our topics and do not wish to address the topic of the respective post, but rather disseminate unrelated content, your comment will be hidden with a notice. Please discuss the topic of the article and do not misuse our publications for your agenda.

No advertising

Please do not post any advertising or spam. We will immediately hide any commercial content with a notice. We also ask you to refrain from using our social media presence to send advertising or other marketing content to others via private messages or to publish it within a Facebook group, for example.

Accountability

Please respect the privacy and anonymity of others and help to protect the rights of other users. Do not disclose personal/private details of other people, whether they are also users of the network or not. This primarily includes name, address and other personal details, but also photos/videos. Bear in mind that it may be difficult to delete them completely afterwards.

Please respect copyright and intellectual property rights! In particular, make sure that you own the rights to distribute the content, photos, artwork or other works protected by copyright, trademark or name. By posting certain content, you confirm that you have the necessary permission.

Information

Posts/content that violates the netiquette formulated here will be hidden with a notice and screenshots will be taken if necessary. Comments, opinions and links posted by users on social media channels operated on behalf of the University of Jena do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the University.

Users who ignore the netiquette of our social media channels despite repeated warnings will be excluded from using our social media accounts. Depending on the nature of the content and/or the intensity of the insult, discrimination, threat, etc., we reserve the right to report this incident to the authorities.
