The Friedrich Schiller University Jena is a research-oriented university with a broad range of subjects and a dense network of cooperations on a regional, national and international level. Their research success builds on discipline-oriented individual projects and on interdisciplinary, coordinated research networks. 

Our main research areas belong to three distinct profiles: LIGHT, LIFE, LIBERTY. Each of these profiles has evolved from a long-standing tradition of scholarship.
