About the guest house

The ‘Humboldt-Haus’ is an International Meeting Centre (IBZ) that is specially designed for scientists and their families. The guest house features 27 furnished apartments of various sizes and is surrounded by a large garden with a children’s playground and barbecue area.

In addition to the apartments, there is a library with a play area, a TV room, and a seminar room with a kitchenette that can be booked for events.

The apartments have a telephone and Internet connection (WiFi and LAN), which can be provided via the university network, and television sets.

There is a laundry room in the cellar, where you can use the washing machines and dryers.

A car park, bike racks and a bike shed can be found in the courtyard on the property.

Location and directions

The IBZ ‘Humboldt-Haus’ is located at Charlottenstraße 23 in the district of Jena-Ost.
The local area has an Edeka supermarket, the Protestant Schiller Church with a small park, the ‘Schillerhof’ (restaurant and cinema) and the ‘Camsdorfer-Ufer’ (the banks of the River Saale).

Thanks to the Camsdorfer Bridge, the city centre and main university building are just a few minutes away on foot.

In the car: Take the B7, turn south-west onto Wenigenjenaer Ufer, then take the second left (Dammstraße); continue for around 300 m and then turn onto Charlottenstraße.

Via public transport: Take the bus line 14 or the tram line 2 to ‘Schlippenstraße’ and then continue for 10 minutes on foot.

Laundry service

The beds come with a quilt and pillow.

When you move into your apartment, you will find one laundry set per person.

The set includes:
1 quilt cover
1 pillowcase
1 bedsheet
1 large towel
1 small towel

And the following for each apartment:
1 bath mat
1 tea towel

You can exchange this for a fresh set twice a month during the laundry service opening hours.

The laundry room is in House A opposite the office.

Please indicate all persons who will stay in the apartment.

Booking requests are accepted throughout the year.

Due to the high demand, you should send your booking request in good time. We will then send you an email to let you know whether a suitable apartment is available.
