A European initiative aims to make 13 May the „European Doctoral Day”. Such a day shall raise the attractiveness of doctorates for both European and international students and can make the importance of doctoral degrees for employers more visible. The day is also intended to emphasise the diverse career opportunities and societal impact of doctoral graduates.
The initiative originally comes from the French Ministry of Research and Education and was taken up and promoted by the Coimbra Group and other European networks. The University of Jena is a member of the Coimbra Group - an association of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe - and fully supports this initiative. With the help of the initiative, it will be easier to highlight the importance and fundamental value of the doctorate and doctoral graduates for Europe.
