Gaining own third-party funds is an important step for career development of young researchers. The success of a grant application strongly depends on preliminary scientific results. To support its postdocs the Friedrich Schiller University provides financial suppport for the preparation of grant applications.
FSU postdocs who obtained their PhDs no more than three years ao are eligible to apply within the Programme for early postdocs . This programme line supports projects that should result in a grant proposal for third-party funding after a period of up to a 12 month. It is possible to apply for funding up to a total of 10,000 euros for academic emplayees, student assistants, and material and travel expenses.
The Programme for advanced postdocs supports advanced postdocs to prepare grant applications in order to establish their own research groups (e.g. Emmy-Noether Programme, Heisenberg Programme, Marie Curie Fellowship, ERC). FSU postdocs who obtained their PhDs no more than six years ago are eligible to apply. The Advanced Programme supports projects that should result in an application for third-party funding after a period of up to two years. It is possible to apply for funding up to a total amount of 20,000 euros for academic employees, student assistants, and material and travel expenses.
