The European Campus of City-Universities (EC2U) is a multicultural and multilingual alliance of seven long-established universities that are locally and globally engaged, located in four different regions of the European Union and united by education and research as shared guiding principles:

  • University of Coimbra, Portugal
  • Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iaşi, Romania
  • Friedrich Schiller University Jena, Germany
  • University of Pavia, Italy
  • University of Poitiers, France (coordination)
  • University of Salamanca, Spain
  • University of Turku, Finland
  • Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria
  • Umeå University, Sweden

The aim of the alliance is to create an innovative space that enables free mobility between the seven universities and their respective cities.

Opportunity for studying abroad
In addition to the Erasmus+ programme options offered within the faculties, you have the opportunity to apply—under the standard Erasmus conditions—for a study place of one or two semesters at one of the universities listed above.

Requirements
Before and during the planned period abroad, you must be enrolled as a student at the University of Jena. You must be able to provide proof of language proficiency in the language of instruction (the language in which you will study, level B2) and ensure that sufficient courses are available at the host university (30 ECTS per semester). Applications are open to all disciplines and study cycles (Bachelor’s, Master’s, State Examination).

Benefits
The programme offers the same benefits as the Erasmus programme. You may study free of charge at the host university, receive support from both the home and host international offices, participate in a free intercultural training course, and receive an Erasmus grant for your stay abroad.

Application
Please use the Erasmus exchange programme application form deand submit it to your responsible Erasmus de departmental coordinator by 15 January.
You will then be nominated to the foreign host university and will receive further information about the application process.
