Tenure Track Qualification Programme in the Fall Semester 2025/26

Initial situation
In accordance with the Statutes on the Appointment of Tenure Track Professors at Friedrich Schiller University Jena dated 14 April 2021, tenure track professors take part in a university qualification programme. This programme includes tenders for the demand-oriented provision of high-quality academic knowledge and skills in the subject areas of research, teaching and leadership. The challenge is to qualify excellent professors for the University of Jena and to strengthen the independence and self-responsibility of young academics.

Aims of the qualification programme
- Individual skills development of tenure-track professors through needs-based selection and specialisation of qualification topics
- Supporting tenure-track professors in their own and their staff's staff development
- Establishing a network of tenure-track professors with regular moderated formats for exchanging experiences
- Strengthening the ability of tenure-track professors to become Independent at an early stage

Target group
The tenders are open and designed for the target group of tenure-track professors, junior professors and junior research group leaders at Friedrich Schiller University Jena.

- Needs-orientated tenders
- Individuality (participant-orientation)
- High level of self-activity on the part of the participants
- Direct practical transfer
- Different formats: Workshops, coaching, exchange of experiences, consultations
- Regular exchange with participants and continuous further development of the programme

Certificate
After successful participation in the core and extension modules of the basic programme, participants initially receive a basic certificate for submission to the interim evaluation. The certificate for the tenure-track qualification programme for submission for the tenure review is issued after successful participation in all modules of the basic and advanced programme.
To apply for the basic certificate, please prove your participation in the extension modules by submitting your confirmation of participation by email. The core modules do not need to be proven separately. -
Duration and scope
The duration of the programme is approx. 6 years per participant (duration of the Tenure-Track Programme). Tenders have been offered on an ongoing basis since 05/2019. - As a rule, all core module workshops are offered in the winter semester. The current workshop programme with booking options can be found in the Qualifications PortalExternal link.
- Coaching sessions and individual measures can be booked on an ongoing basis by arrangement. Please send your enquiry by email.
- Appointments for teaching feedback can be arranged with the Service Centre for Higher Education Didactics (LehreLernen) on an ongoing basis. Please send an e-mail to: lehrelernen@uni-jena.de
