The Friedrich Schiller University and the city of Jena want to continue the MitmachFORUM, which has been running since the beginning of the year: University President Prof. Dr Andreas Marx and Lord Mayor Dr Thomas Nitzsche signed a cooperation agreement on Monday (17 November) to hold joint events in the Ernst Abbe Library. Under the umbrella of the MitmachFORUM, the University and the city will continue to promote dialogue between science and urban society with this initiative in the coming year.
The topics of previous MitmachFORUM events have been dedicated to public health, such as urban development, dementia and depression. Further focal points on health, participation and coexistence are planned for 2026. The first event will be a House of Commons debate on the topic of »Constructive Journalism« on 27 January 2026.
In the long term, the MitmachFORUM is to be given a permanent home in the University of Jena's new FORUM in the city centre. The building, which is currently under construction, will serve as an open communication and meeting place and facilitate dialogue between academia, the city and the public.
