An overview of the Universitas@Jena initiatives
  • Participation Space Teaching Strategy

The existing teaching strategy is to be further developed in a targeted way in order to respond more flexibly to current challenges in teaching. To this end, a comprehensive participatory and agile process is being established that actively involves all status groups – particularly students.

  • Funding Program for Student Teaching

With the program for tutors, student teaching at the university is to be recognized and strategically strengthened. Through workshops in higher education didactics and interdisciplinary networking meetings, teaching skills are expanded and innovative teaching and learning concepts are promoted.

  • FlexSpace Teaching

In order to continue providing targeted support to lecturers and students in further developing their teaching and in testing new teaching and learning models, the University of Jena is strengthening its incentive and funding structures. Existing funding lines are being reviewed and complemented by new, flexible instruments that promote interdisciplinarity, future orientation, and participation.

  • Forum Futurum#Lehre

During an annual INVENTIO Week, students work on real-world challenges and develop innovative solutions – supported by lecturers who have received specific didactic training. The FUTURUM Day brings together the results of INVENTIO Week, connects university members and external partners, and serves as a stage for ideas for future-oriented teaching.

  • Flex-Lab

In a pilot project, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration is making the existing B.Sc. in Economics and Business Administration more flexible. This is achieved by introducing an optional fourth year of study for special practice-oriented, interdisciplinary, international, research-related, or otherwise specialized study phases.

  • Interdisciplinarium Lab

     de

Interdisciplinary courses across faculties are being developed, piloted, and integrated into the curricula. In this way, new perspectives and insights are opened up for both students and lecturers, and co-creation is actively promoted. Following a four-year pilot phase involving four faculties, the project will be expanded to include the remaining faculties.

  • FORUM GENERALE

     de

The previous Studium Generale is being expanded into the FORUM Generale, which, beyond the transmission of knowledge, primarily focuses on societal and transformative networking. The FORUM addresses socially relevant topics both through disciplinary and interdisciplinary teaching inputs and through public forums in which students, lecturers, and citizens engage in discussion on the respective topics.

  • FSU_connect

Open courses on socially relevant topics are bundled on a digital platform. In addition to course information, registration options, and live video streaming, the platform also provides low-threshold access to academic materials and interactive forums.
