Friedrich Schiller University Jena remains one of Germany’s most popular universities. In the latest ranking by the student portal »StudyCheck«, the University of Jena ranks fifth in the category of universities with more than 15,000 students.
The annual ranking is based on student evaluations. A star rating reflects satisfaction with the university, for example with course content, support, organization and campus life. In addition, there is a recommendation rate, which can be awarded from 1 to 5. The University of Jena has continuously improved its scoring rate, which combines both values, over the years. The current ranking shows an average score of 8.75, compared to 8.63 in 2023.
Student feedback reflects the quality of teaching
»The fact that the University of Jena is once again one of the most popular universities in Germany with over 15,000 students is a great honour and makes me very happy. This result is particularly valuable because it is based on personal feedback from our students and thus reflects the quality of our teaching from their perspective,« says Prof. Dr Karina Weichold, Vice-President for Learning and Teaching at the University of Jena. She extends her sincere thanks to all teaching staff who have contributed to this positive study experience with their commitment and didactic competence.
Good teaching thrives on close interaction with excellent research, internationalization and transfer to society, Karina Weichold continues. »We will continue to strengthen this connection. The positive feedback from our students encourages us to do so.« The good results in the »StudyCheck« ranking are an incentive to continue developing teaching in the future, for example within the framework of the universitas@jena project, and to prepare students even better for future academic, professional and social challenges.
Altogether, 57 institutions of higher education were included in the »StudyCheck« ranking. A total of 87,093 student evaluations were counted.
