Support Services for Leadership Development

The Staff Development Department offers a wide range of programs to support the University of Jena’s leaders:

Leaders in both academic and non-academic areas can take advantage of the "Leadership Impulses"pdf, 2 mb · de certificate program (PDF, 1 MB), the comprehensive Leadership Development Program, and events from the department’s general training portfolio.

For professors, we also provide specialized training formats—such as the Tenure-Track Professorship Qualification Program and, in cooperation with the Graduate Academy, the workshop series “Insights into Doctoral Supervision” (new offerings to follow in 2026).

Under certain conditions, leaders may also access individual or small-group coaching. For conflict resolution, the Staff Development Department provides assistance by arranging professional facilitation or mediation.

Leadership Development Program

The Leadership Development Program (FEP) provides a solid foundation for the daily challenges of leadership roles. Over eight months, participants complete seven modules covering a broad range of key topics—from effective communication and team development to conflict management and strategies for healthy self-leadership. Optional individual coaching can be added.

The program is aimed at emerging leaders with current staff responsibility, employees with limited leadership experience, and those who plan to take on a leadership role in the near future.

Its goals are to systematically build leadership skills, strengthen participants in their roles, foster a dynamic professional network, and deliver practical, hands-on training.

The 2025 FEP begins in November 2025 with 12 participants, with additional cohorts planned from Q4/2026 onward.
