Knowledge and Technology Transfer

For Jena as a research and technology location, the transfer of knowledge and technologies is indispensable for strengthening the regional economy.

The Friedrich Schiller University Jena promotes the transfer of generated knowledge into innovations and practical applications. University Jena sees knowledge and technology transfer (KTT) as a core strategic task and, as a comprehensive university with strong faculties in the natural sciences and humanities, is committed to this third mission.

The guidelines and strategic goals in knowledge and technology transfer at University Jena are the basis for joint work with scientists and are set out in a transfer strategy [pdf, 507 kb] (2016, PDF)pdf, 507 kb · de and defined by an IP strategy [pdf, 592 kb] (2016, PDF)pdf, 592 kb · de. The staff of the Transfer service area provide comprehensive services to support the initiation and implementation of research projects with partners from industry, the execution of research contracts, the exploitation of research results (e.g., through licensing), as well as their own startup projects.
