In 2019, the Senate of Friedrich Schiller University Jena decided to set up the Strategic Steering Committee for Diversity Management under the leadership of the Vice President responsible for the areas of responsibility. The committee is tasked with advising the university management on strategy and action planning and supporting its implementation. The steering group brings together the expertise of the central and decentralised areas responsible for the various university fields of action and the diversity-related interest groups and coordinates the university's diversity management centrally. The model used to design the committee
was the Strategic Steering Committee on Gender Equality, which has been operating successfully since 2012. The two Steering Committees meet regularly to identify and competently address intersectional issues.
