Successful live launch of the new study service on 18 November 2025.
With the launch of the new Friedolin 2.0 study service on 18 November 2025, the University of Jena is entering a new phase of digital study and administrative processes.
This page provides an overview of the most important new features, functions and processes in Friedolin 2.0, as well as information on the continued use of Friedolin 1.0.
The aim of the changeover is to make administrative and study processes more modern, transparent and user-friendly.
Below you will find information on:
- Changes to contact details and self-service options,
- new procedures for enrolment and part-time study,
- the future online processing of applications and leaves of absence,
- as well as the use of the email programme and the two systems Friedolin 1.0 and Friedolin 2.0.

Update your contact details yourself
You can easily change your telephone number and address yourself in Friedolin 2.0.
It is no necessary to submit a request to the Student service center.

Online applications
In Friedolin 2.0 you have the option of submitting various online applications to the Student services.
These include, among others:
- Leave of absence - How do I submit a leave of absence application?External link

- Exemption or reduction of fees - How do I apply for a fee waiver or reduction?External link
- change to part-time study - How do I apply to switch to part-time study (or full-time study)?External link

Change of degree programme / double degree programme
If you would like to apply for a different degree programme or a double degree programme, please use the application form in Friedolin 2.0.
Admission is required to change to a degree programme with restricted admission.

Working in two systems
Please note that two systems are currently being used in parallel:
- Friedolin 1.0:External link for timetables, exam administration, grades, course registration
- Friedolin 2.0:External link For applications, enrolment, changes to contact details, and requests to the Student Services.
- To simplify switching between systems, you can log in to the systems using single sign-on/off, similar to Moodle.
Both systems will remain active until Friedolin 1.0 is replaced.
