What does the future of healthcare look like and which innovations are already helping us in our everyday lives? Under the motto: "Health. Digital. Together.", citizens were able to find out about current tenders and initiatives at the second interactive action day organised by OpenFORUM Jena - New Public Health in cooperation with wecare on 17 June 2025 at Stadtlab Jena.
For example, interested visitors tested the possibilities of telemedicine in the Digimobile and learnt how virtual reality glasses support patients in the preparation of Medicine procedures. Stress test measurements, professional back analyses, balance boards and a parcous in an age simulation suit also invited visitors to test their own fitness.
Initiative for more dialogue between urban society, administration and science
Prof. Dr Bärbel Kracke, Vice President for University Community and Engagement, Mayor Dr Thomas Nitzsche and Kathleen Lützkendorf, Jena's Head of Department for Social Affairs, Health, Immigration and Climate, emphasised the relevance of a low-threshold and intensive exchange between society, the university and the city administration during their visit to the OpenFORUM. The OpenFORUM offers the opportunity to shape Jena together and to bring science and the city even closer together.
OpenFORUM Jena - New Public Health is a project of Friedrich Schiller University and the City of Jena. The joint initiative is coordinated by the Network and Cooperation Management Office (University of Jena) and the Health Promotion Office (City of Jena). The project is funded by the German Stifterverband as part of the "Transformationslabor Hochschule" programme. The aim is to strengthen the dialogue with citizens in participatory and innovative formats in order to jointly develop new approaches for a health-promoting city.
