Image and sound media designers are specialists in the technical realisation of film, sound and media productions. They plan production processes, set up the required technology and ensure that high-quality image and sound recordings are created. They select the appropriate equipment in advance, install the technology and prepare for a smooth process.
During a production or event, they operate the technology and monitor the process - from camera and sound technology to lighting control. In the subsequent post-production stage, they edit the recorded material, cut image and sound sequences, optimise the quality and make the final product available on suitable data carriers or in digital formats.
The profession combines creativity with technical expertise. Image and sound media designers work both in a team and independently and are in demand wherever professional media content is produced - whether in institutions of higher education, at events, in studios or in the digital media world.
