Every appointment marks an important decision that shapes a university's future profile—in research and in teaching. To attract outstanding academic staff, the University therefore puts a special emphasis on its appointment procedures.

The Office for Academic Appointments supports the faculties and appointment committees in all things concerning appointment procedures.

At the same time, we accompany future professors of the University between the appointment offer and the appointment to their new position, for example during their appointment negotiations and when finding their feet in Jena.

In addition, our Dual Career Service also supports the partners of future professors when going new career ways in Jena and in the region.

Last but not least, the Office for Academic Appointments is also the point of contact for those professors who receive an appointment offer by another university and would like to start retention negotiation with our university.

The process of appointment is laid out in the Appointment Procedure Regulations of the University. This document makes sure that the procedure is transparent, fair, and takes account for equal opportunities.
