The University of Jena, Germany, in collaboration with its EC2U Partner Universities, invites submissions for the Early Career Researchers' Meeting in Jena, a three-day live event taking place from 24 to 26 March 2026.
This gathering provides doctoral researchers with a valuable opportunity to present their research, engage in scholarly discussions, and foster connections within the framework of the EC2U Virtual Institute of Quality Education (VIQE).
Objectives and Thematic Focus
The PhD workshop focuses on the role of linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe. It examines multilingualism and cultural diversity in European societies and explores ways of shaping and developing them. In doing so, it focuses on minorities and their languages as well as current challenges in the postmigratory society, including in literary and media forms. Contributions that examine intercontinental interrelationships, including from a historical, postcolonial, or cosmopolitan perspective, are also welcome.
Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:
- Multilingualism, multiculturalism, diversity, discrimination
- Minority languages, lesser taught languages
- Intercultural learning, intercultural competence, foreign language teaching
- Post-migrant societies
- (Post-)colonial relations and intercultural identity constructions
- Globalization, resistance, cosmopolitanism
- Literary and media (including social media) dimensions of multilingualism and cultural diversity
Selected participants will be invited to present their work during the event (presentation or poster).
