Why Open Evaluation processes?

Research assessment plays a central role in science in order to judge quality and relevance. It influences the distribution of resources and the recognition|to credit of career paths. Evaluation mechanisms are often based on quantitative indicators - publications, third-party funding. Increasingly, the question arises as to whether these evaluation mechanisms are still up to date.

Various initiatives are addressing this issue, such as the European Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) initiative launched in 2022.
