If you study ‘Economics and Business Administration’ as a minor subject, you will acquire the tools you need to quickly grasp such concepts. A business mindset can help you out in many areas, allowing you to accurately assess corporate decisions, understand economic constraints and complete many other tasks.
This degree programme covers the traditional areas of Business Administration, Economics and Business Information Systems, where theoretically sound and practicable solutions are developed to face the diverse economic challenges of our time. Graphic: Sophie BartholomeOur bachelor’s programme is the first degree qualifying graduates to work in their profession. The standard length of the study programme is six semesters, and different types of courses are offered for each module (e.g. seminars, lectures or exercises).
A multi-subject bachelor’s programme consists of a major subject with 120 credit points (CP for short; 1 CP = 30 hours for attendance, preparation and follow-up work, private study, assessed coursework and examinations) and a minor subject with 60 CP.
‘Economics and Business Administration’ is a minor subject that can be combined with all major subjects at the University of Jena. The range of courses includes 22 basic modules and 18 specialization modules, where you have a free choice. In the foundational part, you will learn more about business administration and economics. In the specialization part, you can advance your studies according to your own interests.
By the way: There is a mathematics bridging course to help you prepare for your studies. We strongly advise all students to attend.

Image: Sebastian ReuterIf you have a minor in economics or business administration, you will be able to work for companies, public authorities and training institutions or undertake a master’s degree.
However, your further studies and career opportunities will largely depend on your major subject. After all, the business-related content of your degree will not be as extensive as a bachelor’s degree with economics or business administration as a major subject.
A university entrance qualification, such as a general secondary school leaving certificate, is required for admission onto the study programme.

If you do not yet have the required language certificate, you may apply for our DSH course starting from German level B1. This course ensures optimal language preparation and also gives you the opportunity to get to know Jena while benefiting from student status.
A translation into German or English must be submitted for every application document that was not originally issued in German or English. These translations must be prepared by an authorized translation office.
Applicants with university degrees from India, Vietnam, or the People’s Republic of China must submit an APS certificate.
