Friedrich Schiller University Jena regards the advancement of young researchers as a central priority area. To this end, it has established a "Vice-President for Young Researchers" which ensures that the needs of young researchers are always present at the university's top management level. Since 2012, there has also been a centrally located "House for Young Researchers", which is the first point of contact for all questions concerning the PhD and postdoc phase.

The Graduate Academy is the central contact point for all German and international doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. It offers a welcome service, an interdisciplinary qualification programme, doctoral and career counselling, networking opportunities and support for individual initiatives.

The Service Centre LehreLernen offers university didactics qualifications for all researchers who are looking for ideas for structuring their courses and who wish to develop their teaching competence in a targeted manner. The Service Centre for Research and Transfer de supports scientists in applying for third-party funding and patents.
