The Master Service Centre (MSZ) will assist you in preparing your enrolment. The enrolment process will then be completed at the International Office and/or the Student Service Centre.

Prepare your enrolment documents

Please provide your details to learn which documents you are required to submit in order to enrol in your programme.

Important information on your admission

  • Admissions are only valid for the particular semester you have applied for.
  • It is not possible to defer the start date or to use the admission letter to enrol for a later semester.
  • By the time your enrol, you not only have to be able to provide all your degree certificates and academic transcripts but also have to meet the language requirements, i.e. provide the required language proficiency certificates.
  • You must have successfully completed your relevant bachelor's degree programme before enrolling in a master's programme.
  • You can only be enrolled if you have submitted your complete and correct documents by the specified deadline. You will find the deadline on your admission letter and in our Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.

Enrolment process for international students

  • You are currently enrolled at the University of Jena (bachelor's or master's programme)
    1. You need NOT apply for enrolment in the Friedolin 2.0 online application portal.
    2. Prepare your enrolment documents. Please see the "Prepare your enrolment documents" section above.
    3. Please note the deadline for submitting your enrolment documents as shown in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    4. Submit your enrolment documents by post or via our postbox or in person during our office hours.
    5. The Master Service Centre checks your documents.
    6. We forward your documents to the Student Service Centre.
    7. The Student Service Centre completes your enrolment process.
  • You are currently enrolled at the University of Jena (DSH course)
    1. You need NOT apply for enrolment in the Friedolin 2.0 online application portal.
    2. Prepare your enrolment documents. Please check the "Prepare your enrolment documents" section above.
    3. Please note the deadline for submitting your enrolment documents as shown in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    4. Submit your admission letter and the filled and signed Application for Change of Programme form (page 1 only) by post or via our postbox or in person during our office hours.
    5. No further documents are required.
    6. The Master Service Centre checks your documents.
    7. We forward your documents to the International Office.
    8. The International Office completes the enrolment process. Learn more about the last steps of the enrolment process on the page of the International Office.
  • You are currently enrolled at the University of Jena (guest studies)
    1. Apply for enrolment in the Friedolin 2.0 online application portal.
    2. Prepare your enrolment documents. Please check the "Prepare your enrolment documents" section above.
    3. Please note the deadline for the submission of your enrolment documents as shown in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    4. Submit your enrolment documents by post or via our postbox or in person during our office hours.
    5. The Master Service Centre checks your documents.
    6. We forward your documents to the International Office.
    7. The International Office completes your enrolment process. Please contact the International Office for more information on the last steps of your enrolment process at incoming@uni-jena.de.
  • You have never been enrolled or have been enrolled in the past (but not currently) at the University of Jena
    1. Apply for enrolment in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    2. Please note the deadline for applying for enrolment and for submitting your enrolment documents as shown in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    3. Prepare your enrolment documents. Please check the "Prepare your enrolment documents" section above.

    6. We forward your documents to the Student Service Centre.
    7. The Student Service Centre completes your enrolment process.
  • You have never been enrolled or have been enrolled in the past (but not currently) at the University of Jena
    1. Apply for enrolment in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    2. Please note the deadline for applying for enrolment and for submitting your enrolment documents as shown in the Friedolin 2.0External link online application portal.
    3. Prepare your enrolment documents. Please check the "Prepare your enrolment documents" section above.
    4. Submit your enrolment documents by post or via our postbox or in person during our office hours.
    5. The Master Service Centre checks your documents.
    6. We forward your documents to the Student Service Centre.
    7. The Student Service Centre completes your enrolment process.

    Please note: Please send a certfied copy of your bachelor's degree certificate by 15.8. (in case of summer semester intake) or 15.2. (in case of winter semester intake) respectively to the Student Service Centre, in case you did not have the certificate by the time you enrolled. Information about certified true copies

  • to enrol successfully, you must provide certified true copies of:
    • higher secondary education certificate, 
    • university degree(s) and academic transcripts,
    • (if applicable) proof of language proficiency
  • the University of Jena accepts true copies certified via:
    • the German Embassy/Consulate,
    • your university,
    • public bodies in Germany bearing an official seal:
      • municipal administrations, district offices, and minor administrative authorities such as local mayors, town administration, local registration offices, etc.)
      • courts and notaries,
    • digital certifications (e.g. Adobe Sign or other digital verification protocol such as Verification ID/Link, QR-code, portals, E-Akte).
  • please make sure that it is certified true copies (and not simple photocopies) before you submit your documents.
  • send certified hard copies to our postal address
  • certified soft/digital copies can be submitted by ticket via Service DeskExternal link
