    Mission Statement What does the University of Jena stand for? What values do we want to live by? What gives us orientation for the future? Answers to these questions are provided by the mission statement, which was developed in a participatory process and adopted by the University Senate in February 2021.

    Strategic Development In order to continue the successful development of the Friedrich Schiller University in research and teaching, a strategy process was set up. In the process, strategy papers on the core topics of research, teaching and young academics as well as on other topics have been created or are being created.

    History On 2 February 1558, the Hohe Schule, founded ten years earlier, was ceremonially opened as a university with imperial privilege. Today, the Friedrich Schiller University can look back on more than 460 years of history.
