Today you’ll be getting to know each other and us for the first time. And we’re not just anywhere!! We’ve hired a cinema auditorium at the Schillerhof, where you’ll also be attending lectures during your degree. So do bring a bit of money along for snacks and drinks ;)

You’ll also get a general overview of the degree programme and the university.

We’d like to welcome you to the campus at 11.00 am, at the start of STET, for a drink and a chance to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. The city tour and city scavenger hunt start at 11.30 am. The tour and the scavenger hunt take place at the same time; you can make a decision between the two at the meeting point.

After the general information session, it’s time to fill our hungry stomachs and validate the most important card for us students.

Would you like to know how your degree programme in Romance Studies is structured and what opportunities await you here? At the department presentation, you’ll get to know the various areas of study and the key contact persons. You’ll be given an overview of your degree programme, have the chance to ask questions, and find out who to contact if you have any academic or organisational queries.

Afterwards, we’ll go for a walk up the hill and show you the premises in person.

Please make sure you wear sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing and bring a packed lunch for a little picnic on the mountain.

Here, you can get in touch with the relevant teaching staff again, clarify any questions about your course and get advice on planning your first semester. Even if you weren’t able to attend the first set of office hours, you’re very welcome to come along.

If you live in Jena, you simply must have been to the Landgrafen! That’s exactly what we’ll be doing with you: together, we’ll go for a walk through the countryside around the city and enjoy the view over Jena.
We’ll be out and about for about 2 hours – the perfect opportunity to meet new people and have some good chats in a relaxed setting, far away from the stress of uni and time tables ;)
You don’t need any special hiking experience, but there’s a fairly long uphill stretch at the start, and there will be some steps to climb. Be sure to bring something to drink and wear sturdy shoes.
If the weather forecast is bad, we’ll let you know via Telegram whether the walk is going ahead.

We recommend that you wear walking boots or trainers, and please do bring some water or other drinks and a few snacks with you.

We are going on a walk to the Fuchsturm with students studying German as a Foreign Language (DaF) and German as a Second Language (DaZ).

On 12 October 2026, from 10 am to 12 noon, the Institute of Geography will be presenting itself as part of STET in Lecture Theatre 4 on campus. The presentation is designed for all first-year students (teacher training, BSc and MSc) and can also be viewed via livestream (see headline).

During the induction for the internship, students will be allocated to groups, followed by the handover of workstations (13:00–15:00).

Welcome address to new students by the Dean of Studies, ThULB, the Alumni Association and the ‘Law"’ student council.

Following the opening event, all first-year students will be assigned to their student mentor groups.
