Role of the General Examinations Committee
The General Examination Committee (APA) is a joint committee of the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Faculty of Philosophy, and the Faculty of Theology.
The APA’s task is to ensure compliance with the applicable examination and study regulations and the proper conduct of examinations in the Bachelor of Arts, Teacher Education (Jena Model), Magister Artium, and Master of Arts programs.
Furthermore, the APA handles objections.

The General Examination Committee is expected to schedule its meetings in 2026 on the following dates:
February 12, 2026 (Application deadline: January 22, 2026) -> postponed to February 19, 2026 due to illness
March 26, 2026 (Application deadline: March 5, 2026)
May 7, 2026 (Application deadline: April 16, 2026)
June 18, 2026 (Application deadline: May 28, 2026)
September 10, 2026 (Application deadline: August 20, 2026)
November 19, 2026 (Application deadline: October 29, 2026)
Application Process and Decisions
You can submit aplications via Servicedesk PortalExternal link. Any requests submitted after this date will be discussed at the subsequent meeting.
Please note the relevant provisions set forth in the current examination regulations.
During the meeting of the General Examination Board, student cases are evaluated individually and decided on a case-by-case basis. You will receive written notification of the Board’s decision regarding your application or appeal, including the reasons for the decision and information on your right to appeal.
Guidelines for Applications for Compensation for Disadvantages
Requests for compensation for disadvantages in exams should be submitted as early as possible, but no later than the start of the lecture period in the semester during which the compensation is to be implemented during the exam period.
This is the only way to ensure that the Examinations Office has sufficient time to review the application (and, in this context, to clarify any questions with the applicant), to provide counseling, to reach a decision in the General Examinations Committee, to issue an administrative decision, and to coordinate assistive devices.
In addition, the organizational implementation of accommodations during exams also requires time, e.g., regarding the use of technical equipment or a separate exam room.
