Informations about the Honours Programme

The Honours Programme presented itself to interested students on Thursday, 9 October 2025, at the Market of OpportunitiesExternal link. At the Honours Programme stand, participants were able to find out about funding opportunities for talented and research-oriented students.

With over 90 exhibitors, the Market of Opportunities is the largest fair at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. This year, numerous institutions, initiatives and groups presented themselves on topics such as support in studies, careers, society, politics, the environment and culture. Institutions, initiatives and groups also presented themselves on topics such as music, media, international affairs, religion, health and sport.

Call for applications 2026

From end of March/beginning of April to beginning of May 2026, students who are at least in their fourth semester of a degree programme can apply for funding via the university's application portal.

Who can apply for funding?

Excellent students at Friedrich Schiller University who are interested in research can apply with their own small research project and in tandem with a supervisor experienced in research (professor or postdocs with at least two years of research experience after completing their doctorate).

What documents do you need to submit?

• Letter of motivation (approx. 1 page)
• Curriculum vitae
• Certificates, proof of previous academic achievements, current grade point average
• Description of the type of supervision planned
• Explanation of planned participation in academic exchange (e.g. involvement in
   research processes, participation in colloquia, working groups)
