Call for Participation: Go Digital in Law

We are pleased to announce the launch of two complementary international programmes taking place at the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of  Iași, Romania in February 2026. Although designed for different participant groups, both events will run in parallel and offer a rich, interconnected academic experience.

1. EC2U Winter School (12th –14th February 2026)

This programme is dedicated exclusively to PhD students and academic staff. The Winter School will feature specialised sessions, in-depth discussions, and opportunities for advanced research exchange. Travel days are scheduled for 11 and 15 February.

The program is structured around a combination of lectures, interactive workshops, and panel discussions, with core themes such as digital and technology law, AI regulation, data governance, platform and digital markets, cybersecurity, and legal technology. Specialists from academia and industry contribute with their expertise, offering both theoretical and practical insights into how law meets technology in today’s world.

Funding

Selected participants will receive a 1265 € EC2U Grant, but might have to pay the costs for travel and stay themselves in advance.

Application

To apply for the EC2U Winter School, please send the following information to janett.grosser@uni-jena.de until the 14th of December at 11:30 am:

  • Last name, first name
  • Email
  • Information about the field of study
  • Start of the PhD and dissertation topic
  • Approval/support from the supervisor
  • A short motivation letter (max. 1 page) explaining why participation is important to you and how the topic of the event relates to your PhD project/career plans.

Application Deadline: Sunday, 14.12.2025 at 11.30am
Selection of Applicants: Monday, 15.12.2025
Response from applicants (acceptance/rejection): latest by Thursday 18.12.2025 at 8am (first come, first serve!)
Replacements – if necessary: will receive information on the morning of December 18 with a request for feedback by December 18, 2025 (deadline 2.30 p.m.)
Transmission of acceptances from nominated participants to Iași: Friday, 19.12.2025

2. BIP Erasmus Programme (8th–15th February 2026)

The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), funded through Erasmus, is open to Bachelor, Master, and PhD students. The official programme runs from 8 to 15 February, with core activities scheduled between 9 and 14 February. Participants will engage in interactive workshops, collaborative projects, and blended learning experiences with peers from across Europe. 

The courses cover a wide spectrum of subjects that are shaping the future of the legal profession, ranging from artificial intelligence, legal technology, digital law to cybersecurity and data governance.

Funding

Participants will receive 862€ Erasmus + funding but must pay the costs for travel und stay themselves in advance.

To apply for the BIP Erasmus Programme, please send the following information to martin.omalley@uni-jena.de until the 11th of December, 8:00 am:

Integrated Agenda for Shared Learning

The core period of 12–14 February overlaps for both programmes. The agenda has been thoughtfully structured to include joint sessions while ensuring tailored content. Dedicated panels will be offered for Bachelor/Master students and for PhD students and staff, ensuring that all participants benefit from discipline-appropriate perspectives and activities.
