The University’s campus, and some of the faculties, are located in the city centre. Others are within walking distance.
JenTower, also affectionately called “Keksrolle” (=biscuit role) by the locals, is the city’s landmark. The tower has 31 floors and 1,446 windows. From above the 125-metrre-high platform, good views of Jena are guaranteed.
Jordy from Ecuador is a master’s student at the University of Jena. About his second home Jena he says: “I think everyone here in Jena will find something interesting. Jena has simply the perfect size. There are almost 23,000 students here and that gives the city an extremely lively atmosphere. Since I have been in Jena, I have actually had the feeling that the people here are very open and approachable. I like this from my very start in Jena.”
