Information about starting your studies

We look forward to welcoming you to the University Jena so that we can start the new semester together. For all new students, the Orientation Days always take place before the start of the lectures to make it easier for you to get started. Before the first semester starts, there will certainly still be many questions: How do I create my study plan for the first semester? How do I register for a course? In what format will they take place? Whom can I turn to if I have subject-specific questions?

To answer all these questions, we organize Orientation Days at the University Jena from 1 to 15 October 2021. You will receive general and subject-specific information on the organization of your studies and you can make yourself familiar with offers and facilities of the University, and get insider knowledge from advanced fellow students in your subject.

If unanswered questions arise during the semester, our advisory and service institutions will be happy to assist you.

Welcome Days for all (new and advanced, international and German) students

New university, new town and lots of questions? In this video, Niklas and Sarah explain what students at the University of Jena should consider before starting into the semester. Looking for accommodation, sending off the BAföG application, unpacking the starter package, browsing through the guide for freshers (Blauer Faden), attending precourses, registering at the citizens‘ service office – all this should be tackled before the lectures start.
