National Forestry and Grassland Science Data Center
Short description
The National Forestry and Grassland Science Data Center (NFSDC) is a national-level scientific data infrastructure supporting forestry and grassland research in China. It integrates a wide range of forestry-related datasets including forest resources, wetlands, desertification monitoring, forest protection, and forestry industry development.
The center provides data services for scientific research, environmental monitoring, and national policy development. Currently, it hosts 181 databases with approximately 1.3 TB of data, as well as thematic datasets such as national forestland distribution and wetland monitoring data.

Video tutorial
This repository provides illustrated guides for data access and download procedures. The guide explains account registration, dataset search, and the application process required before downloading datasets.
Access notes
Users must create an account before accessing the repository. Downloading datasets requires completing an application form and passing a review process. Higher levels of access require additional verification steps such as linking a Chinese phone number or uploading identification documents.
Although the repository offers an English interface, metadata is largely missing there, so using the Chinese interface is recommended.
Repository overview
The NFSDC integrates forestry and grassland data across 12 thematic categories, including forest resources, wetlands, desertification monitoring, forest ecology, wood science, and forestry industry development.
With more than 181 integrated databases and thematic data products, the repository supports scientific research, ecological monitoring, and policy-making related to forest and grassland ecosystems in China.
