National Microbiology Data Center
Short description
The National Microbiology Data Center (NMDC) is a national scientific data platform dedicated to microbiology and microbial resources. It was jointly established by several research institutions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
The repository integrates data resources covering the entire lifecycle of microbiological research, including microbial resources, microbiome data, biological barcodes, experimental methods, and research results.

Video tutorial
The repository provides illustrated documentation explaining how to navigate the platform and access microbiological datasets within the integrated sub-databases.
Access notes
Data are organized into numerous specialized sub-databases. Accessing datasets through these individual databases is usually easier than retrieving them through the central portal.
Repository overview
The NMDC hosts a large collection of microbiological datasets including microbial genomes, microbiome data, biological barcodes, and microbial resource collections.
The repository currently contains approximately 6 PB of data and more than 5 billion records across 794 databases, supporting research in microbiology, biotechnology, and infectious disease studies.
