National Earth Observation Data Center
Short description
The National Earth Observation Data Center is China’s national-level infrastructure for scientific data in the field of Earth observation. It developed out of the National Integrated Earth Observation Data Sharing Platform and serves as an important channel for remote sensing data exchange and coordination.
The center aims to provide a cross-agency, one-stop service environment for Earth observation data and to support the full data lifecycle, from collection and management to analysis, mining, and sharing. It plays a strategic role in building China’s national Earth observation big-data infrastructure.

Illustrated guidance is available describing the access process and the restrictions affecting registration and data retrieval.
Access notes
The Chinese interface cannot be accessed from non-Chinese IP addresses without a VPN. The English interface exists, but it does not provide the full data information available on the Chinese site. In addition, users outside China cannot open the registration page, which effectively prevents normal access to downloadable data.
Repository overview
The center coordinates scientific data resources in Earth observation across institutions, research bodies, and industry. Its mission is to create a unified technical and service environment for China’s Earth observation data and strengthen international data cooperation.
It focuses on large-scale remote sensing and Earth observation data management, including collection, sharing, and analysis across the whole data lifecycle.
