National Ecosystem Science Data Center

国家生态科学数据中心

Short description

The National Ecosystem Science Data Center (NESDC) is a national scientific data center dedicated to ecosystem observation and ecosystem research data in China. It emerged from earlier national ecosystem research and data-sharing infrastructures and is closely connected to the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network.

The center integrates ecosystem observation and research data from national field stations and thematic observation networks. Its goal is to provide advanced ecosystem science data products and services at both national and international levels.

Illustrated guidance is available describing how to search for ecosystem datasets and how to apply for access where approval is required.

Access notes

The repository provides only a Chinese-language interface. Data are categorized as open access, access upon request, and confidential. Open datasets can be downloaded directly, while restricted datasets require login, an application, and approval. Such approval is often difficult for researchers outside China.

Repository overview

NESDC focuses on ecosystem observation and research data from national field stations and other observational networks. It aims to integrate ecosystem datasets across local, regional, and national scales.

The platform supports long-term ecosystem research by providing access to station-based and thematic data products relevant to environmental and ecological studies.
